Certified Distribution Operator

All small California water systems that have more than 15 service connections or that serve more than 25 people year round are required to have Certified Distribution Operators (H&SC Section 106885).

 We are certified operators (H&SC Section 63770) and can provide the following services:

DISTRIBUTION OPERATOR:

  • Collect monthly bacteria samples for testing at FGL.
  • Check source, source water protection, storage facilities.
  • Check distribution system for leaks and cross connections.
  • Monitor and record quantity of water pumped from source.
  • Respond to consumer complaints and maintain a complaint log.
  • Oversee/monitor all repairs performed on the system.
  • Inspect water system within 24 hours of fecal/second total coliform positive result or other water system failures Flush distribution system/or insure that adequate flushing is being done.
  • Notify owner or responsible person of State regulation violations.

TREATMENT OPERATOR:

  • Clean chlorine mix tank
  • Check chlorinator
  • Clean injection fittings
  • Deliver and mix chlorine
  • Test/Log chlorine residual
  • Change feed tube (as needed)
  • Check suction and discharge tubing
  • Check daily chlorine monitoring log

COSTS:

Distribution operator service: $60.00 per month
Treatment operator service: $60.00 per month
Both services: $90.00 per month
